80M Fox Hunt

The 80M QRP Fox hunt was last night.

I should have two more pelts to add to my collection this year. I started back on the hunts on New Years Eve, December 31, 2009 so I'm a little behind the rest of the hounds in numbers but I'm having a good time.

N0SM and N0AR were the foxii last night.
I had trouble getting N0AR. I heard N9NE get him as soon as he started calling at 9pm and I thought I'd be the second one to get him but no dice. I swapped off to try for the lower fox once Dave got N0SM so he'd have clear sailing for N0AR...since we are less than a mile apart we can cancel out our signals sometimes when we send on the air at the same time. There was a lot of noise when I first went to N0SM's sending frequency so I wasn't able to hear him so I didn't transmit. Luckily Dave got N0AR so I headed back. He was tuning around and getting hounds on different frequencies with no pattern but I kept trying. I finally got him after hearing N1TP from FL get him.

Wow...I saw N0SM's log this morning and realized N9NE got N0AR and N0SM both within a minute!!!!!!!!! Although N0AR hasn't posted his log yet I heard Todd get him right away.

So...two more for me .....Yippie!!!!!!!!!!

NH QSO Party at W1WQM Club Station

Lots of fun this weekend.

Here are some of the high points.

N1YX and W1GEK are really funny guys but then thow in N1YI and it's even funnier. I had a blast Friday night watching W1GEK operate SSB while the "peanut gallery" commented, and gave him the business, Mike is a good guy, he takes the razzing all in stride.

The above link is a piece of the action with W1GEK getting razzed by the entire group. The head of N1AA operating CW on 80M is barely viable in the corner.

The next clip is N1YI with N1YX in the background. Deuce really blew me away with all the 2M contacts. I never would have considered 2M a possibility but he made ten or more contacts.

N1YX is helping in the background. Igor is a very, strong all around ssb and cw contester and team player.

Quite a few people showed up on Friday night including N1AA, KB1EOF, K1QI, N1IX, N1YI, N1YX, W1GEK, N1UE, and K1QO...and I know I'm missing a few people who also came to cheer the club on!!!! I do remember it was standing room only in the little club station.

On Saturday I arrived to see KB1LXX, on the radio with Hamish at his side, (A K9DOG). It was shortly after he left that KB1EOF arrived followed by N1UE and KB1QIH. KB1QIH got on the air making his first contact with our own big gun, K1RX...and then proceeded to head down the band, find a spot to call cq and made an additional 6 more q's within about 5 minutes before he headed off to work...WOW!!!! Pretty cool for a first time contester!!

KB1OVA ended up making approximately 100 q's..he did an incredible job and even mopped up some of the more exotic USA stations including WY, ND, SD and NV. I had trouble keeping up the pace logging for him!!! Before he left to go to work his q rate was over 110 an hour!!!!!!!!!!

KA1GJU brought pizza and salad...Kriss is truly da' man...he totally "gets it"...food makes everything more fun!!!! WOW did that salad and pepperoni pizza hit the spot.

I left the club around 11:15 but it would have been nice to be able to stay later. We had one station set up for SSB and one for CW. From the log it looks like we had op's until around 2am!!!!!!!!!!!
